question on a goldfish

I have a rather large goldfish in one tank, do goldfish need a heater if in the house. I do have a lightbulb but that is also so can see the tank, it has grown very big so seems a heater is not effecting it much, just wondering if a heater is needed...

goldfish do not need a heater....
they are a cold water fish,
I have had goldfish for years and change half the tank (25 gallons)
once a month and add fresh, cold well water.
the biggest killer of goldfish is the PH, you can buy a PH test kit at any pet shop.
overfeeding is also a big killer...
